We're a day late but happy to be here to bring you the latest edition of What Fresh Hell Is This? This time, we're talking selfies, bad back tattoos, and murder doctors in - you definitely guessed it - the new Fox medical drama The Resident. Then we're diving in with a game about new spring network premieres that includes some retrospection on the television landscape of 2012 and leads us to the long-awaited Redemption Of Mark Brandanaquits. Bonus points to us for only mentioning Outlander three times.

  • Cheapest Weddings and Randos of Facebook

    January 22nd, 2018  |  53 mins 20 secs
cheapest weddings, hatewatch, netflix, randos of facebook, randos of instagram

This week we're tackling two classic Hatewatches. First, we start with the Australian import Cheapest Weddings, aka: the Randos of Facebook of Reality TV. The are red carpets, gossipy bowling alleys, tropical storms, crochet wedding dresses, and lots of other budget fun. Then we switch to some Hatewatch Analog to discuss Randos of Facebook and the new reign of terror that is Randos of Instagram. We start off making fun of weddings of the ghosts of high school past, and end up lecturing you on internet safety. At the end of the day, we just want you to be safe and happy out there. Also, have we mentioned that we're watching a lot of Outlander? We really like Outlander.

  • The Really F*cking Good Television Awards Show (For Nice People Only)

    January 16th, 2018  |  1 hr 28 mins
awards, hatewatch, hot or tall, television

We did it, we managed to emerge from our Outlander binge to record our first annual Really Fcking Good Television Awards Show (For Nice People Only)! And truly, we deserve an award just for that. In this, our most awkwardly timed episode, we honor the nice television we watched in 2017 and definitely don't associate with any other political events related to awards shows. Come for the Hot or Tall Award, stay for the reveal of Best Hatewatch of the Year (and the surprise musical number). Worth noting - this episode was recorded before the allegations against Aziz Ansari.

  • Pilot Palooza 2017

    January 9th, 2018  |  1 hr 7 mins
hbo, knitting, outlander, pilot palooza, pilots, rob lowe, scotland, starz, time travel, tv pilots

It's our second favorite Hatewatch Holiday of the year! Pilot Palooza is back with all the shows we didn't watch in 2017. We start with a retrospective of the shows we watched during last year's Pilot Palooza and get emotional about all the friends we've made along the way. Then we dive right in with the 6 shows from our hat. The only thing hotter than Kirstie's mic are all the takes. We had feelings about men, computers, feminism, Scottish men, HBO, Rob Lowe, time travel, and knitting patterns. This was a year of long episodes and an overall impression of "meh". Find out which show stood out in the pack and start making plans for next year's Pilot Palooza. We also have a very special shout out for our first Apple Podcast reviewer! We also deeply apologize for Kirstie's audio quality, take it as a lesson to never spend time in a closet.

While you wait in anticipation for our very special holiday episode, we're throwing y'all a very special Bind Off of Nerducation this week. That's right, we're here to talk about The Last Jedi, and SPOILER ALERT we're hot for Adam Driver. Kirstie has some additional feelings about the return of blue milk and she can't even count the number of casual women hanging out in this movie. Tl;dr, this may have been our Star War?

  • A Christmas Prince and Christmas in Evergreen

    December 19th, 2017  |  1 hr 14 mins
a christmas prince, acorns, aldovia, christmas, christmas in evergreen, eurovision, hallmark, hatewatch, netflix

Last week we told you a story about wanting to limit our Christmas content. This week we said fuck it. First we're coming in hot with another installment of Netflix, What Have You Done? We talk about A Christmas Prince, princess shit, whether or not certain cohosts do or do not want certain protagonists to bone, laws stuffed in acorns, our pitch for A Christmas Prince 2, and most importantly, we fancast the Aldovian Eurovision Team (Spoiler alert: It's Adam Driver in a horse head mask). Next up we're baking up some Chicken and Pinecones in the Hallmark Cinematic Universe with Christmas in Evergreen. There are magic snowglobes, Coke Santa and airport rants, somehow Kirstie blacks out and forgets half the plot, Kelsey manages to sneak in some Everwood feels, and then we round the whole thing out by complaining about how much we hate Ted from How I Met Your Mother. If you're looking for us, we'll just be in our Christmas Void until the next installment of #HatewatchHallmark.

  • American Girl Christmas and The Mistletoe Inn

    December 13th, 2017  |  58 mins 25 secs
american girl, american girl doll, christmas, hallmark, hatewatch, mistletoe inn, snow, vermont

This episode of Hatewatch With Us is funny, smart, AND festive - a triple threat! First, we’re talking about the Amazon Original American Girl movie, Maryellen: An Extraordinary Christmas and hoo boy is it ever extraordinary. We learn about transporting snow from Georgia to Florida, and Kelsey temporarily forgets that skirts are an article of clothing that exist. Then, we take a brief break to discuss Hallmark Channel breaking news before diving into the latest in our #HatewatchHallmark saga, The Mistletoe Inn. Make sure to ask Kirstie if she can confirm that the Rocky Mountains, British Columbia, and New Zealand are not in Vermont! She’s not bitter at all.

  • #Twinning: The Parent Trap and Switched At Christmas

    December 5th, 2017  |  1 hr 9 mins
candace, dennis quaid, formative media, hallmark, rom coms, switched at christmas, the parent trap, twinning

IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE, JIM. This week we are going all in on stories about twins switching lives and #twinning. First, we revisit Kelsey's Formative Media and have a long overdue conversation about The Parent Trap. There's some breaking wine news and plenty of yelling about Dennis Quaid, DILF and One True Dad. Come for Kelsey getting emotional about her early learning in RomComs, stay for the child endangerment. Then we discuss the Hallmark movie, Switched At Christmas, a delightful film in which two fully grown Candaces decide that in order to chase their bliss they must be a different Candace and trick men into falling in love with them. It's a classic hatewatch complete with high end finishes, pink tape measures and egregiously aggressive holiday decorations.

Get your JumpFunders ready friends because we're heading to The Capitol with some solo house hunters and some ice sculptures. And guess what - Kelsey wrote this whole description BUY HERSELF. First up this week, Sandra Rinomato and her pink tape measure introduce us to the Single Ladies Of Toronto™ and their $750k condo budgets, a true gift from HGTV Canada. Then, we head to Not New Hampshire to continue our #HatewatchHallmark tradition with Chrismas Festival of Ice. From high end finishes made of ice to Christmas boners, this movie truly has it all.

Pass the cranberry sauce! We're having mashed potatoes! It's our Thanksgiving special and we're thankful for you! This week we're starting with an overview of all the Thanksgiving themed episodes, from Linda songs to Bob being a sad sack. Spoiler alert: both Kirstie and Kelsey end up singing and that's something for YOU to be thankful for. Then we begin what will be a 5 week Hatewatch Celebration of Hallmark Movies with The Sweetest Christmas. It's great, as long as you don't get any gumdrops in my garlic knots. We get distracted by the female gaze, Kelsey loves ginger snaps and Kirstie yells about exactly which Starbucks Syrups she has personal beef with. Also gingerbread happens in multitudes. Stay tuned for the next 5 weeks, because from now until New Years we are watching a Hallmark Movie a week!

  • Nerducation Part 3: Kirstie Wants Everyone To Stop Boning

adam driver, han solo, harrison ford, hatewatch, hatewatch with us, nerducation, podcast, seatbelts, star wars, the force awakens, thought bubble audio

A long time ago in a podcast far far away...... Episode 3, Kirstie Wants Everyone To Stop Boning. Kirstie and Kelsey have returned to their home hatewatch of Star Wars to rescue their friend Rebel Hot Pilot from the clutches of Kirstie's surprise Anti-Rom-Com attack, and Kelsey has no problems with everyone boning. Kirstie has a lot of feelings about DIY Jedi's, and eventually establishes that she and the Force just have different priorities. Kirstie and Kelsey are obsessed with Han Solo's rockin' bod and the Female Gaze. Kirstie's beef with the Force contains multitudes, but with all her blood magic she still manages to rise from the ashes as a Star Wars Fortune Teller, fortelling the arrival of the TV series. To round it all out, there are quotes from viral videos in 2003, an appearance from the Seatbelt Deputy and a discussion of the benefits of the five point harness, and an argument about knitting organization because brand game gotta stay strong.

  • Designated Survivor and The Writer's Strike

    November 7th, 2017  |  1 hr 8 mins
designated survivor, dinner party, hatewatch, hatewatch with us, kiefer sutherland, podcast, the office, thought bubble audio, tv, writers strike

This episode stands as a Monument to the sheer force of the human spirit as we overcome our various afflictions to bring you some kind of shit related to Designated Survivor using the Lucas Method of Hatewatch. Break out your hoody and your Warby Parkers and sit back as we get to know some friends such as Keither Suferland, some Coiffed Young Sirs, and the Everyshow's Aarons and Collins. Kelsey doesn't know the Capitol Building, and everything comes to a grinding halt when we discover Earmapping. The high end finishes really increased the value of this Hatewatch. Then, we pivot to celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the 2007 Writer's Strike. We've got the oral history of the Strike, as well as an overview of all the shows we loved and how they were impacted. Come for the historical context, stay for the history of how WE ended it. Things were going well until Kelsey's great Dinner Party reveal, at which point everything comes to a grinding, petty halt. You, dear listener, have the power to be on the right side of The Office history. Which path do you choose?

Guys, don't even get us started on the history of Trick or Treating. We are in a very Spooo0o00o0o0o0o0oooo0000py mood for this, our first Hallo00oo0o0o0o0oooweeen special. We've got the ghosts of bad costumes, trick or treat horror stories, and two ~Spirited~! sitcoms (see what we did there?). First up is Ghosted, where we explore just how few fucks we give about the paranormal or any other part of this shows premise. Then, we try out a new segment in which we explore recurring Very Special Seasonal Episodes of our favorite TV shows. This time we watched the Halloween episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine and had some feelings about friendship, Michael Schur proposals, and workplace hijinx. Keep it spoo00o0o0oo0o000ooooopy out there, Halloween friends!

  • Norsemen and Reno My Reno

    October 24th, 2017  |  45 mins 5 secs
canada, cottage life, cottage life network, game of thrones, hatewatch, hatewatch with us, knitting tv, monty python, netflix, norsemen, podcast, reno my reno, thought bubble audio

This week we are channeling the full spirit of Li'l Hygge with two shows that are members of Li'l Hygge's Knitting Corner. We start with the Netflix original, Norsemen, which is equal parts Game of Thrones, Monty Python, and poop. We apologize. Then, we cover a Netflix offering from our neighbors to the north, Reno My Reno from the Cottage Life Network. As our second Hatewatch from the Cottage Life Network, Reno My Reno starts off as your typical hatewatch, but quickly devolves into Kirstie and Kelsey doing some live, on-air investigative journalism to learn more about this scrappy network. We delve deep into Pinterest, the Cottage Life Convention, and all four of their featured shows. Kelsey then insults Kirstie's motherland, and we all come out of it about as well as the emasculated home owners at the end of their cottage renos.

  • Nerducation: Episode 2 George Takes the Wheel

    October 17th, 2017  |  1 hr 21 mins
anakin skywalker, george lucas, hatewatch, hatewatch with us, jonah ryan, nerducation, podcast, prequels, star wars, thought bubble audio, trade federation

A long time ago, in a podcast far far away.... Episode 2, George Takes the Wheel. The greedy Trade Federation has stopped all haircuts in all the films of 2005, making this the Year Without the Haircut for jedis, wizards, and elves alike. Over 20,000 Jedi Blood Bacteria have threatened to leave the podcast under the leadership of Anakin Skywalker and Jonah Ryan's 2020 presidential bid. There are heros on both sides somehow inexplicably. Jedi Blood Magic has swept into the Republic in search of the Three Eyed Emo, Anakin Skywalker, who has taken time away from his presidential campaign to finish his degree from the DanRad School of Acting. While the congress endlessly debates this distressing turn of events, all of the women leave the galaxy with their OBGYNs, leaving Natalie Portman alone with nothing but George Lucas and a bad trip to the beach. Kirstie and George Lucas both have burning questions which were only resolved when George Ask Jeeved. Star Wars Produce are returning to the set to cast their final vote on just how stupid George Lucas really thinks the American public has been at various points in film and food history.
